USAC Sprints Roar into October with Lawrenburg Fall Nationals on Saturday

Thomas Meseraull returns to Lawrenceburg (Ind.) Speedway Saturday to defend his “Fall Nationals” victory as the USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship calendar enters the month of October.

Meseraull, of San Jose, Calif. finished 16th in Saturday’s “4-Crown Nationals” feature at the Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio, but remains fourth in the latest series point standings.

Fort Branch, Indiana’s Chase Stockon was the ProSource Fast Qualifier at Eldora, and along with Meseraull, is one of the two past “Fall Nationals” winners are expected to be in action Saturday night at “The Burg.”

Justin Grant of Ione, Calif. caught Matt Westfall on lap 11 and led the final 20 laps for Saturday’s Eldora triumph in his Sam McGhee Motorsports Brown & Miller Racing Solutions/Mike McGhee & Associates Maxim/Foxco. Tyler Courtney took second ahead of Chris Windom, Brady Bacon, Dave Darland and Tyler Courtney.

Bacon continues to hold a comfortable point lead of 235 points over new runner-up Chase Stockon, who was seventh at Eldora. Stockon was Saturday’s ProSource fast qualifier.

Josh Hodges earned the KSE Racing Products/Larry Rice High Performance Hard Charger Award for his drive from 22nd to 9th.

Saturday night’s event at Lawrenceburg also will promote awareness of breast cancer with “Four Abreast for Breasts.” Fans are encouraged to wear a pink shirt to promote awareness as well as receive a chance to win a $100 Kroger gift card.

In addition to traditional awards presented by ProSource at each and every USAC National event throughout the season, the special night will also will feature a $1000 bonus to the driver who is fast qualifier courtesy of the Lawrenceburg Speedway Fire Rescue in memory of Bill Hall.

The pit area opens at 3pm Saturday while the front gate opens at 5pm. Hot laps are set for 6pm with opening ceremonies slated for 7pm with racing to immediately follow.
