Carney Rebounds To Third At Salina Speedway With NCRA

EL PASO, Texas (October 27, 2016) Capping off the weekend with a podium finish against the National Championship Racing Association (NCRA) at the Salina Speedway in Salina, Kan. was anything but easy for John Carney II who had to rebound from a Heat Race collision that put the Lubbock Wrecker/MVT No. 11x near the tail of the lineup.

“We started eighth in the Heat and was passing for third or fourth. I raced the guy clean and the next lap he attempted to slide me and instead, just ran into the side of me so we both went wrecking on the top of the track,” explained Carney of what put the team behind the eight-ball.

Putting John starting 17th, the Texas native was able to move forward as the track widened out.

“The track was really good. You could run the top or bottom of three and four, and pretty much all around one and two. I got up to third at one point, and the caution came out so I got moved back to fourth behind Danny Wood and on the restart, he moved me off the top of three and four and that put me back to sixth. I was able to get back around a few cars, but by then the race was over. I felt like we had a car good enough to win.”

Despite a few hiccups along the way, Carney still managed a third place finish behind Jeremy Campbell and Blake Hahn.

Up next, Carney will trade seats over to the Coyote Candle Co. No. 74b with the 305cid team taking on the Sprint Series of Oklahoma at Wichita Raceway Park in Wichita Falls, Texas on Saturday, October 29. Under the former name Red River Speedway, Carney started off his 2016 season with a weekend sweep at the north Texas oval.
