Racing Action from the Murray County Speedway

Season opener took place on Friday May 20th and we could not of asked for a better night to open the season! The races were sponsored by Pro Cellular AT&T. All 5 IMCA classes made an appearance that night along with MCRA pickups.

MCRA S&S Electric Pickup
Jon Joehnck and Matt Engesser lead the field to the green flag. As the green flag waves Joehnck and Engesser battle for the lead. Engesser pulls away for the lead. Joehnck then begins to challenge Engesser for the lead again but does not have enough time. Engesser takes the checkered flag with Joehnck following close behind.

IMCA Last Chance Auto Parts Sport Compacts
Robert Pottratz and Joe Bunkofske lead the field to the starting line. The green flags drops and it’s a battle out front for the lead. A caution is out as Matt Smith spins out causing a caution; he gets sent to the back on the restart. When the green flag drops again Bunkofske pulls away from the pact. Kent Miller and Tori Groebner battle for second place. Groebner pulls out in second place. A caution is out of Pottratz as he slows down on the front stretch. Pottratz goes into the work area and makes it back out for the green flag. On the restart Bunkofske takes the lead. Jordan Rolling passes Miller for the third place positon and begins to challenge Groebner for second place. Rolling pulls away for second place. Smith and Groebner battle for third place. Groebner enters the spin cycle pulling a caution out. On the restart Bunkofske pulls out in the lead. Smith passes for lead over Miller, Rolling, Groebner and Bunkofske to take over the lead. As the checkered waves Smith takes the win with Bunkofske and Groebner following close behind.

IMCA Sturdevants Auto Parts Northern Sport Mod
Cole Bents and Jeremy Van Ede lead the field onto the track. As soon as the green flag drops Van Ede takes the lead. A caution is out as Brycen Johnson spins in corner three. Nick Johanson was charged with the caution and sent to the back. As the green flag waves once more Bents gets out to the early lead. Tony Rialson makes his way into the fourth place position. A caution is out as Johnson enters the spin cycle once again and receives his spot back. The cars will stop single file on the restart. Bents pulls out to the early lead once again. Rialson challenged Danny Myrvold for fourth place. Myervold pulls ahead and passes Johnson for the second place position. Ed Leonard passes Johnson for the fourth place position. A caution is out for Myrvold. On the restart Bents takes the lead and is able to hold off for the win with Johanson and Leonard following close behind.

IMCA Car Toyz Stock Cars
Jake Bruns and Dustin Larson lead the field to the green flag. As it waves Larson pulls out to the early lead. Garry Mattison, Nick Johanson battle for the second place position. A caution is out for Brandon Murphy. On the restart Larson takes the lead again. Mattison passes to take over the second place position. Matt Speckman and Johanson battle for the third place position. Speckman pulls away and begins to challenge Mattison for the second place position. A caution is out for Mike Carlson. On the restart Larson pulls out to the lead. Mattison and Speckman battle for the second place position. Johanson and Speckman battle for the third place positon. Johanson pulls out into the third place positon. Kevin DeBaere passes Speckman for fourth place. DeBaere challenged Johanson for the third place position when they got together coming out of four sending Johanson into the wall ending his night. DeBaere was charged with the caution. On the restart Larson takes the lead with Mattison following close behind. Bruns, Speckman and Devin Kuehne go three wide for the third place position. Larson takes the win with Mattison and Speckman following close behind.

IMCA R&H Sealcoating Modified
Jay Noteboom and Jesse Rogotzke lead the field onto the track. As the green flag waves Noteboom takes the early the lead. Josh Bonnstetter and Randy Klein battle for the fourth place position. Bonnstetter drops back to the sixth place position and enters the spin cycle causing a caution. On the restart Noteboom takes the early lead. Tyler Limoges and Jeff Massch battle for the third place position. Bonnstetter enters the spin cycle once again ending his night. On the restart Noteboom pulls out to the lead with Rogotzke following close behind. Limoges takes over the third place position. Noteboom takes the win with Rogotzke and Limoges right behind.

IMCA Bolluyt Trucking Hobby Stocks
John Ross and Mark Janssen lead the pack to the start. Ross pulls out to the early lead. Eric Gillette and Brad Synder battle for the fourth place positon. Gillette pulls out in fourth. Cory Probst passes Synder for the fifth place position. Adam Bruder enters the spin cycle causing a caution. Brad Synder and Bruder enter the work area. On the restart Adam Synder and Janssen battle for the second place position behind Ross. Adam Synder gets the second place position. Probst and Gillette are going back and for the fourth place position. Probst pulls out in the fourth place position and passes Adam Synder and Janssen for second place. Ross and Probst battle for first place. Probst is able to pull away in time to take the win with Ross and Janssen following close behind.

Friday May 27th races will be sponsored by Viking Cola out of Marshall and the IMCA modified will be making another appearance at the track!
