Bailey Goldesberry – Weekly Season Starts With Heat Wins!

(Bill W) April 18, 2017 – Bailey Goldesberry racked up heat wins and a pair of top ten finishes last weekend. On Friday, she checkered sixth at Jacksonville Speedway, and followed that up with a tenth place finish at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa Saturday. This Saturday, the sixteen-year-old driver from Springfield, Illinois will again compete at 34 Raceway.

Starting outside the front row in her heat on Friday, Bailey stormed to a win to start things off on the ¼-mile bullring. “The car felt really nice,” she says. “It was good to start the weekend with a heat race win. That ended up getting us a starting spot inside row two for the feature.”

Track conditions changed quite a bit from the heat. “The track got really slick to the wall,” says Bailey. “We missed the setup there. We didn’t take enough stagger out of the car. We didn’t have enough to stay up front, but we were able to manage, I guess. We ended up sixth, so it was a good start.”

The team moved on to West Burlington Saturday, and Bailey drew a starting spot inside row two for her heat. She wasted no time getting to the front. “We were able to get to the front fairly quickly,” she says. “Ben Wagoner was right there behind us most of the way, but we were able to hold him off and eventually pull away. We felt good about getting another win in the heat.”

She would redraw a starting spot for the feature inside row three. “We missed the setup again,” says Bailey. “They take really good care of their track there. They opened it up before the feature and watered it. We ended up being a little too tight. We ended up finishing tenth.”

The first 305 action of the year for Bailey was a success. “We were hoping to do a little bit better results-wise, but we really can’t complain about a couple of top tens,” she says. “I’m looking forward to getting back to Burlington on Saturday and seeing what we can do this week.”
