Lebanon, Oregon- Willamette Speedway returned to action on Saturday, May 20th, for Armed Forces Night. The 1/3-mile clay oval had a full card of racing with five divisions on the bill. The classes included the Super Late Models, Super Sports, Sportsman, Street Stocks, and Hornets.

Corbett’s Collen Winebarger would put in a dominating performance in the Super Late Models. Winebarger would lap the majority of the field enroute to his first Late Model win at Willamette this year. Portland’s Brian Cronk would win the duel for second with Albany teenager Bricen James. Joey Tanner, also from Portland, got fourth followed by La Pine’s Trent Elliott, in fifth.

Salem’s Chris Mott was looking to make it two Super Sport wins in a row. But around the halfway mark Jordan Wright would make his way around Mott to capture the lead. Wright, out of Toledo, would remain there the rest of the distance to win his first career Super Sport triumph. B.J. Donofrio ended his evening in second with Gil Pickett, from Salem, in third. Newberg’s Brian Winkler got fourth over Coos Bay veteran Dave Miller.

Corvallis’ Ryan Emry was the early pace setter in the Sportsman main event. Emry lost the lead to James Slover, of Lebanon, on lap ten. Slover would continue to blaze the trail until he was passed late in the race by Sandy Sanders. The Junction City veteran, of Sanders, would secure the win. Slover would place second over Jeff Rash, of Lebanon, in third. The rest of the top five consisted of Lebanon’s Casey Rhoades and Eric Lindquist in fourth and fifth respectively.

It would be another terrific installment for the Street Stock division. Gresham gasser Kevin Roberts would lead the charge for much of the race but would suffer mechanical problems late. With just two laps to go Portland’s David Cronk obtained the position and would win his second race of the campaign. Justin Evans, of Lebanon, was the runner-up while fellow Portland veteran Jody Tanner got third. David Schmidt, out of Eugene, and Roberts were the rest of the top five finishers.

Last but not least was the Hornets. Albany’s Tracy Muse would put in a flawless effort to perform a clean sweep and earn the team’s second win of the season. Junction City chauffeur Marcel Forte placed second with Steve Dove and Rowe Lovvorn picking up the rest of the finishing order.
