A Fall Tradition: Kraig Kinser Heads to Williams Grove Speedway for the National Open

Granger, IA—Sept. 27, 2011—It’s early autumn in Central Pennsylvania and the air is becoming a little more crisp, the leaves are beginning to turn and most importantly, it’s time for the East Coast’s biggest sprint car race of the year, the National Open at the famed Williams Grove Speedway. For Kraig Kinser and the Casey’s General Store team, the two-day event will mark the fifth and final crown jewel event of the season that they are participating in with the World of Outlaws.

The National Open will take the green flag on Friday, Sept. 30 with a 25-lap main event and will conclude with the running of the 40-lap, $50,000-to win feature on Saturday, Oct. 1, with the cameras from SPEED capturing all of the action for broadcast on Oct. 23.

Kinser raced with the World of Outlaws for the first time at Williams Grove Speedway in 2003. He has competed in 19 main events at the track over the last eight years, picking up six Top-10 finishes along the way. The native of Bloomington, Ind. finished a career-best sixth at Williams Grove in the finale of the 2004 Summer Nationals and also was sixth in the spring of 2006 at the track. Kinser finished 21st and 22nd back in July during the Summer Nationals at the famed half-mile.

The third generation driver made his debut in the National Open in 2004, finishing a very solid 11th. The following season he finished ninth in the 40-lap finale, which to-date is his best career finish in the event. Kinser has raced his way into the main event of the National Open on five occasions.

The driver of the Casey’s General Store Maxim heads to the National Open eighth in the World of Outlaws championship standings on the strength of 20 Top-10 and four Top-Five finishes as he continues his first season driving for the Parsons Motorsports team.

Kraig on Williams Grove Speedway:
“The National Open is certainly one of the biggest events of the year. With the big money on the line, it’s always one of the toughest fields we face all season and just making the show there is an accomplishment in itself. The Casey’s General Store crew has been working hard all season and we’ll into the Grove and give it everything we have and see what happens.”
