Weaver Earns First Top Five of Season, Pair of Top 10s in Kansas

Inside Line Promotions – PARK CITY, Kan. (July 1, 2014) – Jordan Weaver scored her first top five of the season at the Steve King Memorial last Saturday.
It marked the first of two impressive performances for Weaver in Kansas during the ASCS Sooner Region and NCRA co-sanctioned doubleheader.
“We had a way better weekend than we’ve had all year,” she said. “We stayed out of trouble pretty much all weekend and we drew well. It seemed like luck was on our side.”
Weaver kicked off the weekend on Saturday at Dodge City Raceway Park in Dodge City, where she advanced from fourth to third place in her heat race. That lined her up on the outside of the third row for the main event on the tricky track.
“The track was one lane and really hard to pass,” she said. “There was a bunch of us running really, really close to each other. I got around one guy on the last lap to get a top five.”
Weaver’s late-race pass secured her first top five and second top 10 of the season, which provided a boost heading into Sunday’s event at 81 Speedway. After drawing the pole position for a heat race, Weaver picked up the victory.
“We got the jump on the start and never looked back,” she said. “I fell back a little bit in the feature, but there were a lot of good guys who finished in front of me.”
Weaver battled for a top five throughout the main event before ending with an eighth-place finish.
“It’s more of a confidence boost,” she said. “I know I have a good setup under the car and I know how to drive it with that setup. We’re going to change a little bit and try a few things to get it a little better this weekend.”
Weaver will return to Dodge City Raceway Park in her 360 sprint car this Friday and Saturday to compete with the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series during the Boothill Showdown Presented by Roto-Mix.
