Inside Line Promotions – ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. (Sept. 30, 2014) – Big Game Motorsports driver Craig Dollansky earned a top five last Friday during his season debut at Williams Grove Speedway.
The solid night also gave the Big Game Treestands team a good direction for when it returns to the half-mile track in Mechanicsburg, Pa., this Friday and Saturday for the $50,000-to-win 52nd annual National Open with the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series.
“It was good to get a night in there for the first time this year,” Dollansky said. “Overall I was pretty happy with our team’s performance. It was good all the way through. We kept working on some things to get ourselves better.”
The team kicked off the night by qualifying seventh quickest. Dollansky then won his heat race after starting third and he advanced from fifth to fourth place during the dash, which lined him up on the outside of the second row for the main event.
“We were running in the top three the better part of the race,” he said. “We were there with the leaders. We were trying some different lines and gave up a position.”
Dollansky finished fourth, which marked the 16th top five of the season for the Big Game Treestands team.
“I’m definitely pretty encouraged,” he said. “I felt real comfortable. The car felt good. We made some good progress and learned some things. Going into Williams Grove, where they have a pretty good weekly program, to finish with a top five was a pretty good result for our team.”
The weekend wrapped up on Saturday at Lincoln Speedway for the $20,000-to-win Dirt Classic Presented by Kasey Kahne.
Dollansky qualified sixth quickest and he finished second in his first heat race. He then placed seventh in the second heat race, which was inverted. That lined the Big Game Treestands team up on the inside of the sixth row for the main event.
“The first part of the night was pretty good for us,” he said. “Come feature time we weren’t where we needed to be with our race car. We weren’t making a lot of progress. At the end of the day it seemed like it was difficult to pass and I pulled the car in to save our stuff for the following weekend.”
Dollansky was credited with a 20th-place result.
