Wheatley Making Season Debut With World of Outlaws in Las Vegas and Tucson

Inside Line Promotions – LAKE STEVENS, Wash. (March 2, 2015) – Austen Wheatley will kick off his 2015 season this week with a trio of World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series races.
His schedule opens with races on Wednesday and Thursday at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas in Las Vegas for the FVP Outlaw Showdown and on Saturday at USA Raceway in Tucson, Ariz., for the NAPA Wildcat Shootout.
“I’m just ready to get back in a race car and compete,” he said. “We haven’t been able to race since the Trophy Cup last October so we’re all itching to get back to a race track.”
Wheatley is also looking to start the season on the right foot by advancing into the main event at all three World of Outlaws races this week.
“It’s always tough when you race the Outlaws, especially when they all spent a week racing in Florida last month before the stuff in Las Vegas and Tucson,” he said. “But if you want to get better as a driver you have to compete against the best competition. We’ll certainly be doing that this week.”
Wheatley’s best result in a World of Outlaws race at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas is 20th and he hasn’t been able to make the main event during two attempts at USA Raceway with the Outlaws.
“Both tracks are very fast and you have to carry a lot of speed and momentum through the corners,” he said. “Hopefully we adapt quickly this week after being out of the car for the past four and a half months and we can put together consistent laps every night.”
