Inside Line Promotions – TUCSON, Ariz. (March 8, 2015) – Trey Starks opened the 2015 season in the United States by making the main event throughout a trio of World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series races last week.

“Our goal is to be competing for wins, top fives and top 10s, but making all three main events with the World of Outlaws is a solid foundation for the start of our season,” he said. “We learned a few things and gained some confidence so I feel like it was a successful start that we can build on.”

Starks kicked off the competition last Wednesday at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas in Las Vegas, where he qualified 19th quickest during the FVP Outlaw Showdown. He then placed seventh in a heat race to miss a lock-in position by only two spots, which relegated him to the Last Chance Showdown.

Starks finished second in the consolation race to transfer into the main event, where he advanced to finish 17th – tied for his best result with the World of Outlaws in Las Vegas.

“We had worked our way up to just outside the top 10 before we had to go to the pits for some mechanical issues,” he said. “The track was very rough and tricky so being able to be competitive and roll the car back into the trailer at the end of the night was a positive.”

The team returned to the half-mile track on Thursday. However, after qualifying 22nd quickest, Starks was unable to start his heat race because of mechanical woes. That forced him into the Last Chance Showdown, where he placed third to transfer into the main event.

He then maneuvered from 22nd to 19th in the feature.

“The track was a lot better on Thursday, but we were mired in traffic and dirty air the whole time,” he said. “That place is so fast that if something happens to scrub your speed you lose momentum in a hurry. We’ll take the top 20 though, especially after not being able to start the heat race.”

Starks rounded out the tripleheader on Saturday at USA Raceway for the NAPA Wildcat Shootout. He qualified 24th quickest, placed seventh in a heat race – one spot out of a lock-in position – and fourth in the Last Chance Showdown.

However, the track quickly took rubber in the feature and Starks finished with a 23rd-place result.

He will return to competition with the World of Outlaws this Friday and Saturday at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, Calif.
