Wheatley Debuting at Placerville, Returning to Calistoga This Week

Inside Line Promotions – LAKE STEVENS, Wash. (April 6, 2015) – Austen Wheatley will make his World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series debut at Placerville Speedway on Wednesday.

The Placerville Short Track Outlaw Showdown will mark the first time since 1992 – the year before Wheatley was born – that the premier sprint car series has raced at the high-banked, quarter-mile oval in Placerville, Calif. It will also be Wheatley’s first career race at the track.

“I’ve seen a lot of video where that place develops a big cushion,” he said. “It’s a tight track where you’re always going to be next to other cars so it should put on an exciting show.”

Wheatley will then wrap up the weekend with the World of Outlaws on Saturday and Sunday at Calistoga Speedway in Calistoga, Calif., for the Wine Country Outlaw Showdown. This weekend will mark his third career trip to the half-mile track.

“I’ve made every World of Outlaws main event at the track, but this year I’m looking to improve on my results,” he said. “It’s a big, fast track and we’ve shown speed all year. Hopefully I can put together a great qualifying lap both nights to set myself up well for the remainder of each night.”

Wheatley finished 21st and 23rd, respectively, at Calistoga Speedway last year. He placed 22nd during his debut in 2011.
