Reutzel Ready for World of Outlaws Debut

Lonnie Wheatley, CLUTE, Texas (April 23, 2015) – The World of Outlaws. Without question, it’s the best of the best in Sprint Car racing.

It’s a challenge Aaron Reutzel looks forward to, as the Clute, TX, racer makes his World of Outlaws debut at this weekend’s Texas Outlaw Nationals slated for Friday and Saturday at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, TX.

“I just hope we get to race and they give us something good to race on,” the driver of the Shark-powered BC Fundz/Basic One Services No. 87 Triple X Sprint Car commented after another weekend wash out last week.

Atop the $60,000 Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour championship chase in the Wren Motorsports/Momentum Racing Suspensions machine, inclement weather has denied Reutzel any on-track action since an April 3-4 weekend sweep that ran his early season win total to six victories in 18 starts.

“If this keeps up, I may have to get a job,” Reutzel quipped of the recent spate of rainouts.

He will get plenty of work this weekend atop the storied half-mile of Devil’s Bowl Speedway clay, weather permitting, as he takes on the Outlaws for the first time.

While Reutzel is excelling among the ASCS 360-ci ranks, he has shown early success in 410-ci competition that should bode well for his first World of Outlaws outing.

Reutzel showed consistent speed in the Dissolvealloy Frac Ball Revolution mount during Cocopah Speedway’s Winter Heat series at Yuma, AZ, this January, earning several front row feature starting positions before finishing off the series with his first 410-ci feature triumph.

The young speedster backed it up by posting a runner-up finish aboard the Danny Sander Construction/ButlerBuilt entry in the All Star Circuit of Champions Florida opener at Ocala in February.

Both events featured a number of World of Outlaws regulars.

“It feels good knowing that we are able to race with these guys and be competitive,” Reutzel said. “We weren’t sure going in, we were just hoping to make the features and then we were up front racing for wins.”

It’s something that Reutzel looks to carry over to this weekend in the Lone Star Hydro Maintenance/Wright Way Logistics machine. And it comes at a track that Reutzel has plenty of laps upon in ASCS action.

“I’m pumped for it, no question about it,” Reutzel wraps up.

Reutzel’s most recent outing at Devil’s Bowl Speedway resulted in a podium finish of third in last October’s Winter Nationals after a tenth-to-fourth run in the preliminary event.

It’s a podium that Reutzel will once again be looking for this weekend, with an eye on the top step.

2015 Quick Stats: 18 races, 6 wins, 13 top-fives, 13 top-tens.
