Paul Nienhiser went head to head with the World of Outlaws at I-55 Raceway in Pevely, MO May 2nd, and established new career bests with the series. Getting a solid qualifying run amongst the stout 33 car field, Paul set a new career high qualifying with the Outlaws with the 8th fastest lap of the night. That set him second row inside for his heat race, and after running 4th most of the race he finished 5th at the line. This was a good enough effort to advance straight to the feature, bypassing the Last Chance Showdown. He lined up 9th in the feature, for a grueling 40 laps around the high banked racetrack. His plan was to have a tight race car early, but to have a good handling car at the end. The 40 lap race was an extension of what is usually only 30 laps. Paul fought the car the first 20 laps, falling back through the field, and by a lap 20 caution, he was the last car on the lead lap. Now it was time to charge back through the field for the last 20 laps, and that he did. Working a different groove around the track than most of the field, and also having much more tread on the tires than anyone else, he surged back to 10th by the time the checkers flew. A new career high feature finish as well.

Last Saturday, Paul returned to Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, IA for the inaugural National Sprint League race there. Having struggled in each of the previous visits to the famed speedway, Paul qualified 25th out of another tough 38 car field. After a 10th place heat race finish, the team made some adjustments that really made an impact. Paul would miss the feature by just one position, but had managed to reel in all the leaders and improving his lap times drastically.

Friday's "Sprints Gone Wild" NSL/MOWA co-sanctioned race has been rained out due to rain accumulation, but the team will return to I-55 with the MOWA series this Saturday. Sunday they return to Quincy Raceways, where Paul grabbed his first MOWA 410 win in September of 2013.
