Smith Returns to Site of Biggest Win Saturday at Port Royal with World of Outlaws

Inside Line Promotions – KUNKLETOWN, Pa. (Oct. 22, 2015) – This weekend marks the one-year anniversary of the biggest victory during Ryan Smith’s career.

Smith led the final 13 laps to claim last year’s World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series feature at Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal, Pa., where he will return this Saturday in an effort to repeat.

“It was the biggest win in my career,” he said. “The confidence level is through the roof. I think it will be the same type of deal. The weather will be about the same. The race track will be about the same. There’s no reason why we can’t have a shot at it again.”

Last year Smith won a heat race before he picked up two positions in the dash to start the main event on the outside of the second row. He then worked into the lead on Lap 18 and held off Donny Schatz for the monumental triumph, which was Smith’s first career win with the World of Outlaws.

“We’re going with the same package,” he said. “I’ve been trying to cross every T and dot every I this week. That win there put me at another level. If we can run good again and maybe repeat it’ll make it that much better.”

Smith used the momentum from that victory to springboard him into the 2015 season, when he has captured three UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions wins as well as 14 top-five finishes and 24 top 10s.

“We’ve had a really good year and hopefully we will continue that momentum this Saturday at Port Royal,” he said.
