Reutzel is Outlaw Ready after King of 360s Top Five

Lonnie Wheatley, CLUTE, Texas (February 25, 2016) – Aaron Reutzel makes his 2016 World of Outlaws debut this weekend. And the Clute, TX, driver of the Shark-powered Dissolvealloy Frac Ball Revolution /BC Fundz No. 87 Triple-X Sprint Car gets to do so on a pair of tracks that could very well be considered home turf.

“It will be good, we’ll get to have a lot of family and friends there,” Reutzel says. “It would be nice to get that first World of Outlaws win at one of these.”

Reutzel enters this weekend’s WoO double at Cotton Bowl Speedway on Friday and Royal Purple Raceway on Saturday after posting a fourth-place finish aboard the Wren Motorsports/Momentum Racing Suspensions entry in last weekend’s “King of 360’s” Ronald Laney Memorial at Tampa’s East Bay Raceway Park.

The chances of a $10,000 triumph at East Bay looked promising until mechanical problems sidelined Reutzel while in firm command of Thursday’s feature.

“We came out of the box good, that one mishap put us behind all weekend,” Reutzel says.

Reutzel rebounded by racing to a fourth place finish in Friday’s main event, explaining that, “We just didn’t tighten up enough, fourth was all we could get.”

Still, that Thursday parts failure loomed large. Instead of being locked into the top six in points and the front three rows of the Ronald Laney Memorial, Reutzel had to run a Saturday heat race and gridded the feature in 11th.

And it was tough going from the sixth row. “Everyone was good because it was so heavy and fast,” Reutzel explains.

Reutzel still managed to work his way forward to capture a fourth-place finish in the Danny Sander Construction/ButlerBuilt machine.

“It was hard to move up much, we were definitely faster than what the results showed,” Reutzel says. “Fourth isn’t what we went to get, but I guess we’ll have to take it.”

Now, Reutzel and the Wright Way Logistics/Walker Performance Filtration team turn their attention to this weekend’s World of Outlaws double. Reutzel will be one of few on hand that has previous laps at Cotton Bowl Speedway, while Royal Purple Raceway was a frequent stop in his earlier ASCS Gulf South campaigns.

“Cotton Bowl was good the one time I was there, it was racy,” Reutzel says. “I think we have one win at Royal Purple, although we should have won several more there.”

Home turf appeals to Reutzel and company for this weekend.

“We should have a good weekend, we’re looking forward to it,” Reutzel wraps up.
