Outlaws Continue Battle with California Crew at Stockton

The World of Outlaws Craftsman® Sprint Car Series continues its month-long battle with the California crew this weekend as it takes on the Stockton (Calif.) Dirt Track on Friday and Saturday, March 18 and 19.

While Kasey Kahne Racing with Mike Curb driver Brad Sweet continues his roll through the early part of the 2016 season, he and all of the other World of Outlaws regulars face fierce competition from the California competitors.

Drivers like Rico Abreu, Carson Macedo, Dominic Scelzi, Bud Kaeding and Jonathan Allard, among others, are well seasoned on the unique tracks that make the Golden State especially challenging. And in recent seasons, they have seen success with the 'Greatest Show on Dirt.'

Heading into the 3/8 mile oval of the Stockton Dirt Track this weekend, one driver looking for repeat success is Abreu, a native of St. Helena, Calif. One year ago, Abreu battled veteran driver Terry McCarl to score his second win of that season. In addition to his Outlaws win at the track, Abreu has three other wins - one with the King of the West 410 Sprint Car Series, one with the Civil War 360 Series and another in a non-sanctioned 360 event.

The three-time World of Outlaws series winner, comes into Stockton with two top-ten finishes in three series starts, including a season best, so far, of sixth at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas.

Among the Outlaws regulars, Paul McMahan and Sweet bring a unique perspective to racing in California as both are natives of the state. McMahan, from Elk Grove, and Sweet, from Grass Valley, are annually two to watch through the swing.

In addition to the World of Outlaws and the accompanying non-sanctioned 360 winged sprint cars on Friday and Saturday, a full weekend schedule of events kicks off on Thursday night at Delta Speedway, on the property of the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds, with Super 600's, Non-Wing, Restricted, Jr. Sprints and Outlaw Karts (Open division 500's). Following Friday night's events there will a post-race party open to the public on the VIP Upper Deck of the main grandstand. A pancake breakfast follows on Saturday morning from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. in Building 2.
