WoO Look Forward to Dirt Racing Takeover at Rockford Speedway
History will be made in less than three weeks as the dirt racing takeover happens at legendary Rockford Speedway for the Outlaw Clay Classic - two days of World of Outlaws racing action, Wednesday, June 29 and Thursday, June 30.
The stars and challengers of the World of Outlaws Craftsman® Sprint Car Series and World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series, the nation's premier dirt racing series, will convene on the 68-year-old paved, high banks at Rockford, turning it into America's newest dirt track.
"Rockford will be transformed with tons of Illinois river clay, trucked in and spread out over the track for this special, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity," said World of Outlaws President Tom Deery. "We can't wait to see the 'Greatest Show on Dirt' take on America's favorite short track."
Adding to the slate of events for the Outlaw Clay Classic will be the Badger Midget Racing Association and Wisconsin Legends. The Badger Midgets join the sprint cars on Wednesday while the legends join the late models on Thursday.
The event coincides with the newly formed partnership between the World of Outlaws, Sears and the Craftsman brand. Sears' world headquarters lies a short distance from Rockford in Hoffman Estates, Ill.
"In addition to bringing this great event to fans in Rockford, we look forward to showcasing the series to our friends and fans at Sears and Craftsman," Deery said. "This thrilling special event will be one fans are sure to be talking about for years to come. Don't miss your chance to witness history."
