Mark Dobmeier – Two-Win Night at River Cities!

Wins #127 and #128 at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, North Dakota, came on the same night for Mark Dobmeier. Last Friday, the Jimco Racing/Polaris #13 team won both the make-up feature and regular feature in Mark’s hometown. On Saturday, they traveled to Cedar Lake Speedway near New Richmond, Wisconsin with the World of Outlaws. After timing in third quick, Mark would end up finishing 11th. This weekend, the team plans on trips to Jackson Motorplex in Minnesota Friday and Knoxville Raceway in Iowa Saturday.

Things started Friday with the make-up feature. “We started sixth in that one,” says Mark. “We got up to second behind Jordan Adams, who was leading it. It was kind of a one-lane racetrack on the cushion around the top. We were able to get close to him a couple of times in traffic. He got around them well, and we didn’t.”

Mark had another battle on his hands. “At that point, we got in a slidejob-fest with Austin Pierce for a while,” he says. “Once we broke free, we were able to run Jordan down. With about four laps to go, he slid off the backstretch a little and lost some speed. We were able to slide in front of him and go on to win after that.”

The Mid-season Championship followed. “We lined up the heats by points, so I think we started sixth or eighth in the heat,” says Mark. “We had an awesome car. We were able to run up to second in that one.”

Mark started the main event fourth. “We were able to get the lead on about lap five or so,” he says. “It was kind of a dry track with a cushion around the top. I think they started 27 cars in the feature. Needless to say, at River Cities, there was a lot of lapped traffic. We were working the traffic and getting around them as quick as we could. All in all, it was a good track.”

On Saturday, the team traveled to Cedar Lake and timed in third quick with the Outlaws.
“We started off really well with our qualifying effort,” says Mark. “We kind of overthought it from there though and kept working on the car. We kind of survived the heat race and finished second. We went backwards, from second to sixth in the Dash.”

Mark would checker 11th. “We backed up a couple more spots in the feature,” he says. “We’re always trying stuff. We are always trying to get faster. We didn’t have it on Saturday. We just went the wrong way a little bit. You always have to try things. It just didn’t quite pan out for us. We’re excited about getting back to Jackson and Knoxville.”
