Inside Line Promotions – ELMA, Wash. (Sept. 5, 2017) – Jason Sides highlighted a World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series tripleheader in Washington last weekend with an eighth-place finish on Saturday at Skagit Speedway.

It was the 23rd top 10 of the season for Sides, who opened the weekend at the high-banked oval in Alger, Wash., on Friday by qualifying ninth quickest. He then finished where he started – third – in a heat race to start the main event on the inside of the fifth row.

“We weren’t bad, but we missed it the first night,” he said. “It was our fault. Something got changed and we didn’t catch it so that was our own doing. We had played around with the shocks a bit and got them discombobulated. We just completely missed the setup and we were too loose.”

Sides faded to a 15th-place finish.

He showed improvement on Saturday at Skagit Speedway, where Sides timed in fourth quickest during qualifying before he placed second in a heat race to make the dash. A sixth-place result in the dash lined Sides up on the outside of the third row for the main event.

“We had some speed,” he said. “We passed Daryn Pittman and Brad Sweet and got up to third. We were behind Donny (Schatz) and Jason Johnson and we had a red flag. When we went back green I was on the inside row. Normally that’d be the preferred line for me. Before we got to the flag stand Brad and Daryn got by me. I ran fifth for a long time. I think we wore the tires down trying to catch those guys. Late in the race it cost us. Shane (Stewart) got by then (David) Gravel did a slide job. Late in the race Sheldon (Haudenschild) got by.”

Sides held on for an eighth-place result.

The holiday weekend wrapped up on Monday at Grays Harbor Raceway, where Sides qualified fifth quickest. He finished second in a heat race and fifth in the dash to start the main event on the inside of the third row.

“On the start it was pretty good,” he said. “Then it felt a little soft like the left rear tire was going. We had a long caution and you could feel it getting down on the rim and the frame rail was dragging. We started slipping back about halfway through. I think that was because the left rear was going down. As we came down the back straightaway into turn three the sidewall blew out on the last lap. I went across the finish line with a flat. That did confirm my suspicion of it being low.”

Sides ran the first half of the race in fifth before the tire problem relegated him to a 14th-place finish.

Sides is slated to compete this Wednesday at Willamette Speedway in Lebanon, Ore., and Friday and Saturday at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, Calif., for the Gold Cup Race of Champions with the World of Outlaws.
