Brian Brown – Close to Home This Weekend!
After spending most of a month in Pennsylvania, Brian Brown and the Casey’s General Stores/FVP #21 team will be racing close to home this weekend. Friday night, the World of Outlaws visit Lakeside Speedway near Kansas City, Kansas for the FVP Platinum Battery Shootout. On Saturday, the team heads to Randolph County Raceway near Moberly, Missouri for the postponed 410 shootout worth $5,000 to the winner.
You’ve definitely had success at Lakeside in the past. You just haven’t got that Outlaw win there yet.
We’ve been really good there. We had a chance to beat them there a few years ago and got beat late on a double-file restart. It seems we’ve been right there in the top five every time they come. The key will be qualifying. Hopefully, we’ll have a good effort there and put ourselves in position.
It’s always good to race in front of so many people that support you.
It’s not that often that we get to race this close to home in front of friends, family and the partners who help us. It’s important for us not just to participate, but to do well.
They’ve seemed to really have the track prep figured out for the sprints there.
The track has been good. It’s unique in that you rarely see the same track twice. It’s pretty racy one way or the other. I’m sure Friday will be no different.
FVP is playing a big part in this weekend’s event too.
It’s exciting that FVP is heavily involved in not only my car, but the sport in general. That’s true for Casey’s General Stores and many of our partners. I think FVP will bring upwards of 250 customers and employees to the event, and the Outlaws do a great job with the hospitality. We want to thank them with a victory on Friday night.
You’ve also got a great track record in Moberly.
We were able to win there earlier in the year there with ASCS, and we’ve had success there with the 410 too. It’s different not knowing who’s going to come or the format. It will be unique. The promoters are taking a little bit of a risk running this late in the year, so we want to be there and help. Hopefully, the fans support it too.
You’ll be in your own bed both nights!
It’s not too often you get to race for this kind of money within two hours of home. That’s awesome. We’re itching to get back. It feels like six months since we’ve raced, but it’s only been two weeks.
