Dancer Caps Season With First Appearance at World Finals

Inside Line Promotions – CONCORD, N.C. (Nov. 9, 2017) – Shawn Dancer wrapped up the 2017 season last weekend at the Textron Off Road World Finals hosted by The Dirt Track at Charlotte.
“It’s a tough deal for someone that’s never been there before,” he said. “You get three laps of practice and then you go into qualifying for both of your nights. You have to be spot on from the get-go.”
Dancer said his car felt good, but the engine seemed to be lagging a bit. It hindered his qualifying efforts – 22nd in his group for Friday’s show and 24th in his group for Saturday – which set him up for a tough weekend.
“Friday night, we started eighth and made our way up to fifth (in a heat race),” he said. “I was sleeping on the last restart or I think we could have gotten up and battled for a transfer spot.”
Starting ninth in the C Main didn’t discourage Dancer. After hitting a tire on the start and falling to 12th, he made his way up to second to transfer to the Last Chance Showdown.
“We had to start in the back of the LCS and the track slicked up a lot,” he said. “That was ok, but the air was so dirty back there that you just couldn’t go anywhere.”
Dancer advanced from 18th to 15th in the consolation race.
“We started eighth in the heat race on Saturday and we finished seventh,” he said. “In the C Main, we started ninth and we just weren’t as good so we finished sixth.”
Dancer enjoyed his debut at The Dirt Track at Charlotte and is planning a return trip in the future.
“Overall, it was a really good season,” he said. “We got better toward the end of the year so hopefully that will continue into next season.”
