Inside Line Promotions – QUEEN CREEK, Ariz. (April 9, 2018) – Greg Wilson produced his best finish of the season during World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series competition last Saturday at Arizona Speedway during the Arizona Desert Shootout.

“After running J.T. Imperial’s car (on March 31) we went back to the drawing board,” he said. “We cut on our car and moved some stuff around that was an issue. It definitely seemed to be better. I want to thank J.T., Michael and Ray, and Matt and Carter for working hard last week. It’s almost like starting over, but it was definitely an improvement.”

Wilson and the Hercules Tires, Ohio Logistics, DNC Hydraulics and Gear Alloy backed team progressed throughout the night, getting better each time he hit the track. It culminated in the A Main with Wilson charging from his 21st starting position into the top 10 during the first half of the race.

“Everything was a lot better,” he said. “We were as high as eighth at one point during the race, but the cautions really hurt us. We were in the wrong spot on the last two or three restarts. I like the double-file restarts, but some nights are better for you than others.”

Wilson wasn’t in the preferred lane during a couple of late-race restarts, which hampered his feature finish. However, the 15th-place result was his best of the season during World of Outlaws competition and more importantly it proved the team fixed an area or two that had stymied them throughout the start of the season.

“We were really good, but the bad part was I felt like our result was not what it should have been,” Wilson said. “When you look at it big picture it was a good night.”

Next up, Wilson and the World of Outlaws are scheduled to compete this Friday at Jacksonville Speedway in Jacksonville, Ill., and Saturday at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Ind.
