Inside Line Promotions – BARTLETT, Tenn. (April 16, 2018) – Half of the 18 scheduled World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series races have been rained out this season, which is the second worst start to a season Jason Sides has witnessed.

“I forget what year it was, but rain cancelled all of the California swing,” he said. “We drove out there and went to Phoenix and sat for two weeks. Fortunately my dad was with me and we stopped at some casinos and we hit for a bit so that paid for my two weeks of sitting out there.”

The weather this weekend is shaping up nicely as the World of Outlaws has a tripleheader on tap. Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Ark., will host a show on Friday before Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Mo., showcases the Spring Classic on Saturday. Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Ind., wraps up the weekend with a race on Sunday.

“I’m hoping that we have some good runs,” he said. “It’s tough not racing because you can’t get into a rhythm.”

Sides placed sixth in April 2009 during his most recent World of Outlaws race at Riverside International Speedway, which is a short drive from where he lives.

“It’ll give a lot of our family and friends an opportunity to watch us race,” he said. “Being only 15 to 20 minutes from the track will allow the people who have been around us growing up and racing to come out.”

Sides recorded a victory at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in 2012 and he posted a runner-up result there in 2015 to highlight the last few appearances. He also placed 10th at the bullring last year.

“It’s a fun race track,” he said. “Whether you’re good or bad it’s a fun track to get around.”

Sides has scored a top-10 finish during three of his last six races at Tri-State Speedway, which had its originally scheduled date last weekend rained out.

“I’m glad they’re making it up because we need to get these races in,” he said. “Running at Tri-State Speedway is no different than most tracks. If you qualify decent and start up front you can be successful. “
