Inside Line Promotions – BEAVER DAM, Wis. (June 26, 2018) – Jason Sides returns to Knoxville Raceway this weekend for a World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series doubleheader.
Sides Motorsports will have two entries during the two-day event at the half-mile oval in Knoxville, Iowa. Keoni Texeira, who hails from Hawaii, will make his World of Outlaws debut in a second No. 7s sprint car.
“We’re excited to have two cars out there again like we did in California earlier this season,” Sides said. “We just got a fresh engine back. I’m hoping it goes well in qualifying. Knoxville is like Jackson Motorplex. We were pretty decent there a couple of weeks ago so I’m hoping the same thing can happen at Knoxville and we can learn some things for the Knoxville Nationals.”
Last weekend’s World of Outlaws action began with a rain out on Friday at Farley Speedway in Farley, Iowa, on Friday before teams ventured to Beaver Dam Raceway on Saturday for the Jim “JB” Boyd Memorial presented by Karavan Trailers.
Sides qualified 20th quickest, placed seventh in a heat race, ended third in the Last Chance Showdown and capped the night with an 18th-place result in the A Main.
“The track was heavy and wet and fast,” he said. “It wasn’t very wide at all. If you don’t get a good lap in qualifying that’s about it. Last year it was the same situation where it was wet. We were quick time and started seventh and went backwards. So many times as the night goes on the track tightens up. We thought we freed up enough and it wasn’t enough. You had to be up on the top and we were too tight. On the red flag we changed a bar and freed it up more. It was better, but when you start in the back and get lapped already you don’t race the same. When there’s a race going on and you’re not involved you don’t want to be in the way.”
Sides also wants to offer his thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of fellow World of Outlaws driver Jason Johnson, who passed away last weekend.
