Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (July 3, 2018) – Brian Brown produced his fourth top five of the season with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series last Saturday during the Brownells Big Guns Bash with the World of Outlaws finale at Knoxville Raceway.

“Overall it was a really good weekend,” he said. “We were good every time we hit the track.”

Brown opened the doubleheader on Friday by qualifying third quickest in his group. A runner-up result in a heat race earned a spot into the dash. Unfortunately, Brown drew the second-highest number – seven – to line up on the inside of the fourth row. He gained one position in the dash to earn the sixth starting position for the A Main.

“On Friday I felt like we were going to be in the mix,” he said. “I went sixth to fourth and got over the cushion a little and into the fence. It damaged my car, knocked the brakes off it, the right rear shock, bent both right side wheels. I was lucky to even get back out. I rode around and was able to somewhat salvage. That was 1,000 percent driver error that cost our team and our partners an opportunity for a good finish. Sometimes that happens, but in my opinion it shouldn’t happen.”

Brown overcame the early incident to finish 15th. He returned to the half-mile oval on Saturday and produced nearly similar results throughout the program, timing in third quickest in his group, winning a heat race and advancing from seventh to sixth place in the dash.

“We qualified well, were really good in the heat and pretty good in the dash,” he said. “In the feature we missed it a little with our car. The track was a little slicker than it had been at Knoxville and we just missed it a bit. We still felt like we were in the mix. With six or seven laps to go something clobbered my nose wing and it fell back on the hood. That made it a little tougher. We were able to pass Brad (Sweet) coming to the white, but I wasn’t able to stick it not being able to turn. For our car being how it was to still be in the hunt is promising. We have some good notes we can go back on to try to make ourselves better.”

Brown’s fourth-place finish also marked his eighth top five in nine 410 starts at Knoxville Raceway this season.

“To be in the hunt mixing it up with those guys is a good sign,” he said. “We have to keep working no matter the results every week. I’ve got the hardest working team in the pit area. I’m proud of them and we’re looking forward to the FVP event at Cedar Lake this weekend.”

Brown is scheduled to compete this Friday and Saturday at Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wis., during the FVP Platinum Battery Showdown with the World of Outlaws.
