Sides Improves Throughout World of Outlaws Doubleheader at Knoxville

Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (July 3, 2018) – Jason Sides took advantage of a lot of laps last weekend at Knoxville Raceway, which hosted the Brownells Big Guns Bash with the World of Outlaws.
Sides improved his qualifying result and feature finish between the first and second nights of the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series doubleheader at the half-mile oval.
The opening round on Friday began with Sides qualifying 11th quickest in his group. He powered from sixth to fourth place in a heat race to lock into the 14th starting position for the main event, which he ended 20th.
“We made some changes for the second night and we were pretty decent,” he said. “It seemed like we were too tight early. As the fuel burned off we got better. I think we got a good handle of where we need to be qualifying and race-wise.”
Sides timed in seventh quickest in qualifying before a fourth-place outing in a heat race lined him up 14th in the A Main for the second straight night. He officially gained one position to place 13th.
“We went with notes from the past, but we tried some stuff on Saturday to make the car not roll under on the right rear,” he said. “I wish we ran there a couple more times before the (Knoxville) Nationals so you can get a better handle on it.”
Sides also had a second entry both nights with Hawaii native Keoni Texeira behind the wheel. Texeira placed 14th in the Last Chance Showdown on Friday and 15th in the LCS on Saturday. It marked his first weekend racing a 410ci winged sprint car.
“I thought he did a good job,” Sides said. “He wanted to get some laps at Knoxville in a 410 and did just that.”
Sides returns to action this Friday and Saturday at Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wis., during the FVP Platinum Battery Showdown with the World of Outlaws.
