Swindell Nets Top 10 During Second Career Pavement Midget Race

Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (July 3, 2018) – Sammy Swindell posted his second career top-10 result during his second-ever pavement midget start last Wednesday.

Swindell qualified fifth quickest before an eighth-place result lined him up seventh for the NorthEastern Midget Association’s Boston Louie Memorial at Seekonk Speedway in Seekonk, Ma.

“We struggled with the car being loose on entry and tight on the exit (of the corners),” he said. “They made some changes and it was looser getting in the corner and tighter getting off the corner so I kind of fell back in the heat race. I could drive around with those guys, but trying to pass someone was difficult because I had to use up the whole track to get around there.”

Swindell advanced a position in the A Main to finish sixth in a Bertrand Motorsports entry.

“The car was the best it’d been all night, but we were still a bit off,” he said. “I could keep the guys in front of me in sight. We were close to fifth place a couple of times, but we just didn’t quite have enough to pull the pass. We needed to start where we finished with the car and then we could have got it better from there.”

Swindell wrapped up last weekend at Knoxville Raceway during the Brownells Big Guns Bash with the World of Outlaws. Unfortunately, mechanical problems on the A.G. Rains owned sprint car hampered the team.

Swindell scratched early in Friday’s program before he qualified 12th quickest and advanced from sixth to third in a heat race on Saturday. However, an oil leak forced the team to take the green flag and park it in the main event.

June 30 – Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa – Qualifying: 12; Heat race: 3 (6); Feature: DNF (12).
