Inside Line Promotions – WEST FARGO, N.D. (Aug. 20, 2018) – Jason Sides posted the 10th top 10 of the season for Sides Motorsports last Saturday during the Duel in the Dakotas at Red River Valley Speedway.

“It was good to have a solid night and to compete for a top 10 both nights last weekend,” he said. “We’ve been learning some things and sticking with what’s working right now. Hopefully we can continue learning and improving and we can string together more top 10s throughout the rest of the season.”

Sides opened last weekend’s World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series doubleheader on Friday at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, N.D., during the 2nd Leg of the Northern Tour. He timed in 21st quickest during qualifying before charging from seventh to third place in a heat race.

“We didn’t qualify real well because we were on the wrong spot of the track, but we got through the heat race good,” he said. “We had a good run going in the feature. I think we were running seventh or eighth when someone got together with Ian (Madsen) on the frontstretch. I squeezed between them and the wall. It knocked us sideways and got the tail tank and rear bumper. We finished with some damage. After that incident it seemed like we were struggling to hold on.”

Sides salvaged a 13th-place result.

The weekend wrapped up the following night at Red River Valley Speedway, where Sides qualified fourth quickest. He spent most of the heat race in second place before he and Madsen swapped the runner-up position, which was also the final spot into the dash, a number of times during the final two laps.

“He got to sliding me,” Sides said. “I got him back and he got me back. We did that a few times and the last exchange he was in front of us off turn four. It wasn’t terrible finishing third because we started the feature seventh.

“We were pretty decent and got to fifth. We were chugging along. On one of the restarts I tried the top in turns one and two and should have been on the bottom. I tried making something work and just lost a couple of spots. I got back to the bottom. By that time we burned the tires up. The last 10 laps I was just hanging on.”

Sides finished ninth, which was his best outing since a seventh-place run on June 8.

He is set to compete this Friday at Black Hills Speedway in Rapid City, S.D., during the Rushmore Outlaw Showdown and Saturday at Big Sky Speedway in Billings, Mont., during the NAPA Auto Parts & Visit Billings presents the Big Sky Brawl at Big Sky Speedway with the World of Outlaws.
