Inside Line Promotions – COBBLE HILL, British Columbia, Canada (Aug. 29, 2018) – Robbie Price will return to action this weekend as he competes with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series at Skagit Speedway in Alger, Wash., during the Outlaw Energy Showdown on Friday and Saturday.
Price, who has made a handful of starts in a 410ci winged sprint car in his career, competed with the World of Outlaws last year at Skagit Speedway. He raced his way into the feature both nights. The pair of races this weekend at Skagit Speedway will mark the first two of the season for Price in a 410 sprint car.
“I always look forward to running a 410,” he said. “It’s definitely going to be a learning experience because I haven’t been in one since last year. I haven’t had a lot of 410 racing going on the last few years so I want to get back in it and hopefully we are quick learners.”
This season Price has raced exclusively in a 360ci sprint car while also sprinkling in some micro sprint starts along the way. He has a pair of wins in micro sprint competition this season.
“I’d like to say you run it a little differently, but I haven’t run it a whole lot to completely know,” explained Price when asked of racing a 410 versus a 360 sprint car. “I’ll try to get in as many laps as I can. The whole night will be important to getting laps and learning. I’ll be driving as hard as I can and giving it 110 percent every time I am on the track.”
Price, who won the track championship at Skagit Speedway last year, has made a handful of starts at the venue this year. He finished a season-best third on June 21. Price was also in the top 10 in his most recent start at Skagit Speedway on July 28.
“It definitely helps to know what the race track does,” he noted. “I know how to race the track and hopefully I can try not to drive over my ability and just be smooth. The key is to be consistent and race our own race.”
Price raced with the World of Outlaws for the first time in 2015 at Skagit Speedway. He has competed with the series each of the last three years at the Steve Beitler-owned and promoted facility.
“You have to keep your expectations realistic when you are racing with a group like the World of Outlaws,” Price said. “You think you have laid down a good lap and you look and are 20th quick. They are just that good. You have to go in with a mindset that you are going to learn all weekend. Our main objective is to have fun, make as many laps as we can, be consistent and put that into a whole weekend.”
The plan for Price and his team, if all goes well at Skagit Speedway, is to continue on the West Coast Swing with the World of Outlaws on Monday at Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma, Wash.; next Wednesday at Willamette Speedway in Lebanon, Ore.; and the following weekend Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, Calif.
