Inside Line Promotions – YORK HAVEN, Pa. (Oct. 23, 2018) – Trey Starks has earned five top-10 finishes in his last six races to build momentum entering a marquee World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series event this weekend at Port Royal Speedway.

The Gobrecht Motorsports driver heads to the half-mile oval in Port Royal, Pa., this Friday and Saturday when the finale pays a stout $51,000 to win.

“I’m really excited for this weekend,” he said. “Port Royal is one of my favorite tracks to race on and this is the biggest race of the year at Port. I think we do well there and there is an opportunity for some strong finishes. I think it will be a lot of fun. I have pretty high expectations. We time trial really well there and I think the format is in our favor. If everything goes right I think we could have a good weekend.”

Starks most recently competed a week and a half ago, kicking off a doubleheader at Port Royal Speedway on Oct. 12. He moved forward in both of his twin heat races. Starks finished fourth and third, respectively, which ranked him eighth in overall points. That lined him up on the outside of the fourth row for the A Main.

“We lost a couple of spots on the start, which really hurt us,” he said. “We were experimenting a little to see what we could make work. The track conditions might be a little faster now that it’s later in the year. We won’t have high temperatures so it may be colder and wetter so we may see the track faster. We were trying some things that might help us for the Tuscarora 50. We weren’t good at the start of the race, but we were really fast at the end.”

Starks finished seventh.

The weekend wrapped up on Saturday at BAPS Motor Speedway, where Starks qualified second quickest. A third-place result in a heat race locked him into the feature redraw. He pulled the No. 2 to line up on the outside of the front row for the A Main.

“We led about 10 laps of the feature,” he said. “It was one of those races where it was tough to lead. We had a fast top side of the track, but the cushion got to be big and treacherous. I started getting tight on the curb. Running through traffic you aren’t sure where to go. I stayed up top and I bounced over it. Then I ran second for about 10 laps. We ran down the leader and I tried the top again and lost a handful of spots.”

Starks capped the night with a fifth-place finish, which was his 11th top five of the season.
