Inside Line Promotions – DODGE CITY, Kan. (Oct. 23, 2018) – Kraig Kinser scored his 13th top 10 of the season last Friday during the FVP Platinum Battery Shootout at Lakeside Speedway.

The World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series event at the fast oval in Kansas City, Kan., began with Kinser qualifying 12th quickest. He then gained a position to finish third in a heat race, which lined him up on the inside of the fifth row for the A Main.

“It’s a hammer-down track,” he said. “It was fast all night. Everybody looked like they were about the same in the feature. There were a lot of holes and it was tough to pass. You could run right on somebody, but you needed them to screw up to get by them. A lot of guys don’t screw up at this level.”

Kinser’s ninth-place run marked his third top 10 in the last month.

The weekend concluded on Saturday at Dodge City Raceway Park with the Outlaw Boot Hill Showdown. Kinser qualified 16th quickest, placed sixth in a heat race and finished where he started – 16th – in the main event.

“It was pretty heavy and was a fast track,” he said. “You were on the hammer. It finally slicked off for the feature a little bit. We didn’t know what the track was going to do. It got slick, but the line moved from the bottom to the middle to right around the top. Everybody was running about the same line. It made restarts crucial and we lost a couple of spots on restarts. We were up a little further, but the restarts killed us.”

The action shifts east this weekend as Kinser and the Outlaws venture to Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal, Pa., for the Tuscarora 50. The two-day event runs Friday and Saturday with the finale paying $51,000 to win.

“It’s a big race and we’re wanting to make the race,” he said. “There will be quite a few cars there so it will be a tough race. We’re gearing up for a tough weekend. You have to be at your best. It’s a big track and wide. When it gets slick it’s slick and when it wants to be fast it’s fast. It can be a real challenge.”

Kinser posted a 14th-place result during last year’s World of Outlaws race at Port Royal Speedway.
