Inside Line Promotions – KANSAS CITY, Kan. (Oct. 23, 2018) – Big Game Motorsports driver Kerry Madsen will pilot a second entry for CJB Motorsports during the final two weekends of the season.
Madsen said he’ll drive the No. 5m this Friday and Saturday at Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal, Pa., during the Tuscarora 50 before the World of Outlaws World Finals the following weekend at The Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord, N.C. Those are the last remaining World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series events in 2018.
“We were so strong out there (at Port Royal) last year with Guy Forbrook and the Big Game car that it’s disappointing not to come back, but on the flip side it’s an exciting opportunity to drive a second car for CJB,” Madsen said. “It’s a first-class operation. It’s something different and pretty exciting. Usually when you jump into a car it’s stressful, worrying about everyone getting onto the same page. I’m confident in Barry Jackson so I’m excited. It’s still my intention to stay with Big Game next year.”
Mainstream Holdings President Luke Lundt added that this is a great opportunity that came out of a great partnership.
“We appreciate the partnership we’ve had with CJB Motorsports, Chad and Jenn Clemens, Barry Jackson and the entire team,” he said. “This will allow Guy Forbrook to focus on his health and to prepare for next season. We’re appreciative of the support from everyone at CJB and we’re looking forward to the future with CJB Motorsports for the upcoming season.”
Madsen recorded a pair of fifth-place finishes during last year’s edition of the Tuscarora 50 at Port Royal Speedway.
“It’s a fast track,” he said. “You have to have great horsepower and great cars. The last few years it’s trending upwards with upgrades to the track and making the race bigger. It’s turning into one of the exciting races of the year.”
Big Game Motorsports ended the season last Friday at Lakeside Speedway during the FVP Platinum Battery Shootout with the World of Outlaws. Madsen qualified 11th quickest, placed fourth in a heat race and closed the night with a 12th-place result in the A Main.
“We just weren’t on the pace all night,” he said. “I think we were too slow to react to the changes to the track. It was a lot different than last year. We didn’t qualify well and ran fourth in the heat. Then in the feature we moved around and dropped a couple of spots before we gained a couple of spots so that was that.”
The team closed the season with eight wins, 25 top fives and 39 top 10s in 56 races.
