Inside Line Promotions – CONCORD, N.C. (Nov. 6, 2018) – Jason Sides wrapped up his season with a strong run on Saturday evening during the World of Outlaws World Finals finale at The Dirt Track at Charlotte.

Sides charged from 27th to 17th after using a provisional to start near the rear of the field. It was the second-most cars passed in the 30-lap race and provides momentum to close the season.

“That was pretty good,” he said. “It felt like we passed 30 cars. Passing 10 cars is a lot. And it was a lot of good cars that we passed. We had the car a lot better and the track was better. You always want to end on a good note.”

The weekend began on Thursday with qualifying for the shows on Friday and Saturday. Sides timed in 16th quickest in his group for Friday’s race and 17th quickest for Saturday’s event. He didn’t start the heat race or C Main on Friday before rallying from 29th to 23rd in the main event, which was held Saturday afternoon.

“Shane (Stewart) was leading and lapped me,” he said. “I was on the bottom and I passed him back a couple of times. We went back and forth. The last time I was coming to the flag stand when he blew a tire out. I beat him to the line to unlap myself, but (the officials) said once I got lapped I was considered lapped the rest of the race. I don’t understand that. I passed seven or eight cars and then the caution came out so I had to go back behind those cars. I think we had a top-15 car.”

The event concluded on Saturday evening. Sides advanced from sixth to fifth place in a heat race and from 15th to 10th in the Last Chance Showdown before he gained another 10 positions in the main event.

“The track widened out and got better,” he said. “There was a top and a bottom. We could get under the cars when they missed the bottom.”

Sides ended the season ranked 12th in the World of Outlaws championship standings. It marked the 10th straight season he has placed in the top 12 in the standings.
