Inside Line Promotions – CONCORD, N.C. (Nov. 6, 2018) – Kraig Kinser garnered the Hard Charger Award on Saturday evening during the World of Outlaws World Finals.

Kinser combined to pass a whopping 23 cars during the two A Mains at the prestigious World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series season finale, which was hosted by The Dirt Track at Charlotte.

“We got better for the A Mains,” he said. “That’s been how our year has been. The days we’ve been good in A Mains we’ve been buried in them. When we start toward the front we have issues. We need to work hard to get better at the beginning of the night and then stay up front.”

On Thursday Kinser qualified 13th quickest in his group for Friday’s race and 15th for Saturday’s show. He then placed seventh in a heat race and eighth in the Last Chance Showdown on Friday before taking a provisional to start at the back of the main event, which was postponed to Saturday afternoon because of a curfew.

“If you have a bad qualifying run it’s hard to make it up in the heat races,” he said. “After the first turn you’re pretty much strung out. The track slowed down for the feature. With that many cars there it gets slicker and slows down by the end of each race night.”

Kinser maneuvered from 27th to 16th during the day show, which was tied for the third-most cars passed in the race.

He continued that momentum into the evening program, placing seventh in a heat race and 15th in the Last Chance Showdown before charging from 25th to 13th in the main event. Kinser earned the Hard Charger Award for passing the most cars.

“You look for anything you can to give you a positive,” he said. “Those Hard Charger Awards are nice to have. You wish you didn’t have a chance at them because you were starting up front, but at least you’re going forward when it matters in the A Main.

“It’s a positive way to end it. It will bring a little bit of momentum into the winter. The motivation to do better will drive you more than anything. We have quite a few days off and you do dwell on the last race. You also look back at the bigger races and spots where you might have screwed up more than where you ran good and something happened. That’s the stuff I dwell on. I try to figure out a way to be more consistent and to finish races.

“Also, we want to thank Wicked Cushion for coming on board with us during the World Finals. It’s great to have their support and I hope we can partner up again in the future.”

Kinser finished 10th in the World of Outlaws championship standings, marking his ninth season with a top-10 finish in the standings.
