Inside Line Promotions – CONCORD, N.C. (Nov. 6, 2018) – Brian Brown will use his season-ending results as motivation throughout the upcoming offseason.

Brown crashed while competing for a top 10 in the first feature before he placed 16th in the second main event last weekend during the World of Outlaws World Finals at The Dirt Track at Charlotte.

“Overall you never look forward to the year ending, but maybe this year we do more than most,” he said. “It’s been a tough year for our sport and hasn’t been the best year for our team.”

The final event of the season began on a solid note on Thursday when Brown qualified seventh quickest in his group for Friday’s program and 10th quickest for Saturday’s race. He then advanced from third to second place in a heat race and ended third in a dash on Friday before the feature was postponed to Saturday afternoon because of curfew.

Brown lined up on the outside of the third row for the main event and he quickly moved forward, advancing into the top five during the opening laps. However, he was involved in a violent crash in turns one and two on a restart that resulted in a DNF.

“Sometimes when you’re not that great you take extra chances or drive harder and sometimes you get yourself in trouble,” he said. “We were going to run sixth to 10th. I was trying to figure out a way to run third to fifth. Sometimes it just doesn’t work and that was a case where it didn’t work, but you don’t know if you don’t try. We didn’t go to World Finals to run sixth to 10th. I’m proud of the guys – Chad, Nate and Michael – for working so hard getting our second car down and getting it prepared for the night show.”

The team put together the backup car to compete during the Saturday evening program. A fifth-place run in a heat race was followed by a third-place outing in the Last Chance Showdown, which earned a transfer into the main event. Brown closed the night by maneuvering from 21st to 16th in the A Main.

“We were decent, but not great,” he said. “With the quality of cars you have to be pretty good to drive by a large sum of cars. I think we were up to 12th or 13th at one point. Then you try to make something happen and lose a couple of spots. Driving from 21st to 10th would have been pretty good. Going 21st to 16th is average.

“Wicked Cushion came on board for the World Finals. We appreciate their support. Matthew is a great guy who loves sprint car racing. It’s great to see him spreading his support around several teams and I hope we can work together in the future.”
