Inside Line Promotions – LAS VEGAS (March 4, 2019) – Mason Daniel has a unique opportunity to race close to home this weekend with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series.

Daniel, a California native whose race team is located in Missouri, will compete on Friday and Saturday at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, Calif. – the closest track to his family home.

“I have a lot of family and local fans coming out,” he said. “That’s something I’ve never really had in the Midwest. I have a fan base in the Midwest, but it’s a little different with it being your family.

“I’ve never raced in Tulare. I’ve watched a lot of videos on how to get around there fast. It’s a matter of getting up to speed fast on that track. It’s a lot like U.S. 36 Raceway in Missouri with not as much banking. We raced twice there last year and I finished second the most recent time. It was a bang-the-walls-down type of track and we had success there.”

Daniel is coming off a learning week in Las Vegas during the FVP Platinum Battery Showdown presented by Star Nursery at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas. Qualifying mired Daniel in the back of a heat race and the Last Chance Showdown both last Wednesday and Thursday at the half-mile oval.

“It’s difficult being out here as a rookie,” he said. “Vegas was only my fourth event ever with the Outlaws. I learned a lot and I’m excited to get back there next year because I feel like the second night we were better. We timed in better and the car felt better. A lack of experience on the starts is my biggest issue right now. That’s what I need to work on going forward. Once we get up to speed our lap times show we’re good. The car is good. We just have to stop hurting ourselves on the starts.”
