Inside Line Promotions – LAS VEGAS (March 5, 2019) – Robbie Price accomplished his objective last week when he kicked off his season competing at the FVP Platinum Battery Showdown presented by Star Nursery.
“I started the year in Las Vegas a couple of years ago,” he said. “I knew it’d be rough being at a big track with the best in the business. We came to make some laps and get some notes to see how things are rolling. It was all about learning the cars this year and how everything changes. Nothing is ever the same from year to year. I think we were pretty good.”
Price invaded The Dirt Track at Las Vegas for the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series doubleheader last Wednesday and Thursday. Although qualifying got the team behind from the start each night, Price made progress in both a heat race and the Last Chance Showdown both nights.
“As soon as you qualify bad it’s such a deep hole to get out of,” he said. “In the heat we were better and in the Last Chance Showdown we were way better each night. We were quick in the Last Chance Showdown on Thursday, going from 18th to 12th. It was one of those things when you start so far back you can only do so much. We raced with some pretty decent cars. We had good speed and the car rolled into the trailer both nights. And we learned some things, which is the main goal.”
Price is slated to return to World of Outlaws competition this Friday and Saturday at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, Calif., prior to the start of the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour season the following weekend.
“Me and Tulare don’t have the greatest track record,” said Price, who has only competed there in 360ci winged sprint car competition. “We’re going to try not to tear any equipment up and run some consistent laps.”
