Sides Motorsports Nearly Scores Podium Finish in Tulare

Inside Line Promotions – TULARE, Calif. (March 11, 2019) – Tim Kaeding nearly made the most of a short weekend for Sides Motorsports at Thunderbowl Raceway, where he was in contention for a podium finish on Saturday night.

The opening night of the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series doubleheader rained out last Friday. Kaeding led the way for Sides Motorsports on Saturday, qualifying ninth quickest overall before he advanced from third to second place in a heat race to make the dash.

Kaeding gained a position in the dash to place sixth and he was on a mission in the main event, maneuvering into the top three by the midpoint of the race.

“He passed a couple of cars early and was running down (Daryn) Pittman for second,” Jason Sides said. “Unfortunately, there was a puff of smoke and he pulled into the infield with mechanical problems.”

Kaeding was credited with a 20th-place run after the DNF with 14 laps remaining.

Sides ended his night early as well. He timed in 26th in qualifying, but elected not to start the heat race and Last Chance Showdown because of the conditions.

“I didn’t feel comfortable racing with it raining off and on all night,” he said. “We’ve seen what’s happened in the past when it’s rained and the track is heavy and fast.”

Both Sides and Kaeding will return to World of Outlaws action this Friday at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, Calif., during the Silver Dollar Shootout presented by Reibes NAPA Auto Parts and Saturday at Stockton Dirt Track in Stockton, Calif., during the FVP Platinum Battery Showdown.

“We both have had good runs at both Silver Dollar Speedway and Stockton so we’re looking forward to it,” Sides said. “Hopefully the weather cooperates this week and we’ll have two good nights of racing.”
