Inside Line Promotions – JACKSONVILLE, Ill. (Sept. 27, 2019) – Kyle Schuett advanced to a top-20 finish during his debut with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series Wednesday night at Jacksonville Speedway.

“It was a good night,” he said. “We accomplished our goal of making the feature. Our new motor ran well and the car is in one piece. I think we could’ve done a bit better, but we were happy with our night overall.”

A primary concern for Schuett going into the evening was regarding how he would fare during the qualifying session, which set the tone for the rest of the evening. He responded by timing in 23rd quickest, a respectable time among the 36-car field for a driver with little qualifying experience.

“I know I gave up at least three-tenths in my qualifying lap,” said Schuett, who had only previously qualified a sprint car a handful of times. “I was too tight in turns three and four and I lifted the front wheels going down the straightaway. But it was still a decent lap for us.”

Schuett started sixth and finished seventh in his heat race.

“I ran sixth most of the race, but just overdrove the car because I was trying so hard to get to fifth for the final transfer spot,” he said. “That was when Mason Daniel got by me. But I still didn’t think it was too bad for my first race with the Outlaws.”

Schuett rolled off third in the Last Chance Qualifier, which took the top four to the A Main.

“We made some good changes to the car and ran third the entire race that went non-stop,” he said. “That was pretty cool to make the feature in our first race with the Outlaws.”

Schuett took the green flag for the night’s main event from the 23rd position.

“We were able to pass a few cars before getting lapped,” he said. “Unfortunately, we had just gotten lapped when the caution came out, so it’s really hard to move forward when that happens.

“With about six or seven laps to go the leaders were lapping me and I didn’t want to interfere with them so I pulled in. We had accomplished our primary goal of making the feature so we were satisfied with our night.”

Schuett will take this weekend off before returning to Jacksonville Speedway for a doubleheader with the Built Ford Tough MOWA Sprint Car Series on Oct. 4-5.

“We’re looking forward to returning to Jacksonville next weekend,” he said. “I definitely learned some things as a driver racing with the Outlaws and I’m anxious to get back there.”
