Inside Line Promotions – PORT ROYAL, Pa. (Oct. 28, 2019) – Kraig Kinser was tied for the third-most cars passed on Friday during the Nittany Showdown main event.
It was a good finish after a tough start to the night as the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series kicked off a doubleheader at Port Royal Speedway. Kinser qualified 13th quickest in his group before he advanced from fifth to fourth place in a heat race.
“It was a tough race,” he said. “We missed locking into the feature through the heat by one and got in a wreck in the B Main. On the first lap of the B Feature we got in a wreck. We were a victim of circumstances there. I didn’t see much of anything. Cars in front of me where getting together and I couldn’t get around them.”
Kinser used a provisional to start at the back of the field in the main event after the DNF in the Last Chance Showdown. He gained a half-dozen positions to finish 19th.
“We’ll take what we can from it,” he said. “We started from the back and there wasn’t much of an option other than to move forward.”
Saturday’s event finale started off well, but rain ended the night early after qualifying.
“We were eighth in qualifying in our group,” Kinser said. “We were in a good position starting fourth in a heat race that took five. That’s just the way it went. Rain started earlier than what we thought.”
The team will take this weekend off before wrapping up the World of Outlaws season Nov. 7-9 at The Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord, N.C., during the Can-Am World Finals.
