Inside Line Promotions – BRANDON, S.D. (June 24, 2024) – Kaleb Johnson pieced together one of his strongest starts to a World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series event last Wednesday at Huset’s Speedway.
Johnson qualified 10th quickest in his group and finished third in a heat race to kick off the BillionAuto.com Huset’s High Bank Nationals presented by MENARDS. That locked him into a mid-pack starting position during the Huset’s Hustle main event, but unfortunately mechanical woes sidelined him before the green flag was waved.
“I think we qualified well, especially for the cars that were in our group,” he said. “I was hoping to get a spot or two in the heat race. I think going out in the first heat the track was a little narrow and tough to pass. About halfway through I could feel the motor losing a little bit of power. The end result wasn’t great as we stuck a valve and broke some valve springs so we couldn’t start the feature. We would have had it fixed to race on Friday, but Mother Nature had other plans.”
The remainder of the BillionAuto.com Huset’s High Bank Nationals presented by MENARDS was postponed because of continuing rain and flooding.
Next up for Johnson will be double duty this Saturday at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa.
“I’m excited for it as I’ll run my 410 car and a 360 car for Dennis Gainey,” he said. “I haven’t gotten any 410 laps there this year so I’m excited to see where our stuff stacks up. And hopefully we can improve on our results with Dennis and the team.”
Johnson has recorded a top 10 during all four starts at Knoxville Raceway this season, highlighted by a run from 12th to fourth during his most recent visit.
