Big Game Motorsports and Gravel Rally From 20th to Ninth During BillionAuto.com Huset’s High Bank Nationals Presented by MENARDS Opening Night

Inside Line Promotions – BRANDON, S.D. (June 24, 2024) – David Gravel hustled the Big Game Motorsports No. 2 sprint car from 20th to ninth place last Wednesday during the opening night of the four-day BillionAuto.com Huset’s High Bank Nationals presented by MENARDS.

The final three nights of the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series crown jewel event at Huset’s Speedway were postponed because of intense rain and flooding.

The action on Wednesday began with Gravel qualifying fourth quickest in his group. He then finished where he started – fifth – in a heat race.

“We qualified good, but I wasn’t able to pass in the heat races,” he said. “With how that format is you have to pass cars or you’re left in the wind. I was able to just lock into the feature.”

Gravel lined up on the outside of the 10th row in the Huset’s Hustle main event.

“We slowly picked them off,” he said. “I ran the bottom mostly. We had to run the middle and ran the top a couple of laps, but our car was on the snugger side so we definitely liked the bottom. I felt by the end of the race we were decent. We just ran out of laps.”

Gravel’s run from 20th to ninth was the second-most positions gained during the feature.

“We were content to finish where we did,” he said. “It was acceptable for us, but we weren’t happy with how the night was. I think that would have lined us up on the front row of a heat race on Thursday and if we won that we’d have been in a good position, but rain washed out the rest of the weekend.”

Next up for Big Game Motorsports is the World of Outlaws Independence Spectacular this Friday and Saturday at Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wis. Gravel owns a 56-point lead in the World of Outlaws championship standings entering the weekend.

“I’m very excited,” he said. “I was able to win the second night there last year. I’m looking forward to going back. Hopefully it’s nice and warm and slick like it normally is there and we get to do some racing.”
