YORK EXCAVATING LLC NIGHT HIGHLIGHTS FROM JUNE 22

YORK HAVEN, Pa.: Reese Nowotarski has been taking his time, learning, and searching for that first Sprint Car victory.
The journey hasn’t been easy. It’s difficult trying to cut your teeth in the 410 Sprint Car and 360 ranks in central Pennsylvania. There are plenty of heavy hitters, and the tracks can be tricky.
As for the wait, it was worth it. Nowotarski broke through Saturday night, when he captured the 25-Lap United Racing Club main event at BAPS Motor Speedway on York Excavating Night at the York Haven, Pa., facility.
“It’s awesome to get the first Sprint win off the bucket list,” Nowotarski said. “I have plenty of 410 stars here, so I felt comfortable coming here. I knew we would be good out of the box and having Ryan Smith and the crew doing an amazing job the last month, we’ve been really clicking.”
Nowotarski caught a nice break at the start of the main event when front-row starter Brett Wanner spun. That moved the Leesport, Pa., driver up to the front of the field before a lap could be scored.
After another stoppage, the race finally got a lap complete with Nowotarski leading the way over Tylar Rutherford. Two more cautions in the first seven laps led to an open red and a battle of attrition.
Two laps after the open red, Rutherford got upside down after getting over the cushion. After another caution, Nowotarski found a rhythm through lapped traffic and was never challenged in pulling away to a 1.618-second victory.
JT Ferry advanced from fourth to second in the final rundown, with Ken Meisner completing the podium. Josh Weller charged from 16th to fourth, and Derek Locke completed the top five.

In the make-up Wingless Super Sportsman main event, Craig Perigo led every lap in the 20-Lap main event. He was followed by Brandon Shearer, Scott Smith, Steve Wilbur, and Chad Baker completed the top five.
Rain hit the speedway and delayed the start of the program. The result was hitting curfew and officials being forced to postpone features for the Creekside Auto Sales Late Models and 602 Crate Sportsman.
