Sheldon Haudenschild wins 2nd Speedweek victory at Wayne County Speedway 6/22/15

SHELDON HAUDENSCHILD EARNS 2nd STRAIGHT SPEEDWEEK VICTORY; DAMIAN BIDWELL SNARES SWEENEY RUSH LM WIN AT WAYNE COUNTY SPEEDWAY

Orrville, Ohio

Wooster’s Sheldon Haudenschild goes back to back in the Buckeye State during round four of the 33rd annual Ohio Sprint Speedweek presented by Cometic Gasket. Coming off his win at Waynesfield Raceway Park on Sunday night, Haudenschild would earn his second straight victory Monday Night at Wayne County Speedway by winning the Duffy Smith Memorial on White’s Ford night. ”It feels so great to win here” said Sheldon “ This car has been so good lately”. This would be his third career UNOH All Star win at Wayne County Speedway.

For the second time in three days, Dash winner Danny Holtgraver would lead the field to the green flag which was short lived for a caution for Danny Dietrich in turn one. Haudenschild would take command for the opening two laps when the red flag flew for WCS’ point leader, Brad Haudenschild, who flipped in turn three. Back to action, Haudenschild would open up a straightaway lead over Holtgraver, James McFadden and Parker Price-Miller when the red flag reappeared for Broc Martin on lap seven. On this restart, Sheldon and his Southern Pacific Farms and Callies Performance #93 would use the notorious ‘Haudenschild Line’, up against the cushion and wall to rebuild his lead as Price-Miller moved into second at the lap ten mark and begin to chase down the leader. With ten circuits to go, Haudenschild and Price-Miller would exchange slide jobs on each other but Price-Miller slipped in turn two to allow McFadden back into second. Following a caution with seven laps to go, Haudenschild would drive away on the restart as Price-Miller, who had won the UNOH All Star race at WCS back in April, reclaimed second from McFadden in the closing laps as Chad Kemenah and Jac Haudenschild rounded out the top five.

Dale Blaney was the fast qualifier of the 52 sprinters with a time of 14.896 seconds as the heat races were won by McFadden, Price-Miller, Cody Darrah, Tim Shaffer and Rob Chaney. Jody Keegan topped the C-main with Stuart Brubaker claiming the B-main.

Damian Bidwell edged past Max Blair on a restart with three laps to go to win the Sweeney Rush Late Model feature. Five time track champion Ryan Markham would set the pace for the opening 15 laps of the 25 lap main with Brian Knowles, John Watters and Blair in pursuit. Blair would move into third on lap 12 and during the next trip around the track would take second from Knowles. As Markham encountered the back markers with 10 to go, Blair would take the low side of turn three to power past Markham with Bidwell right behind. Following a caution with three to go, the field lined up double file and when the green reappeared, Bidwell outmuscled Blair into turn one and the held on for the win. Markham held on to third with Watters and Charlie Duncan filling out the top five. Markham, Bidwell and Blair scored the heat wins.

Wayne County Speedway will be back in action Saturday, June 27 with the Harriger Towing Late Models, Aamco Transmission Super Stocks, WQKT Mini Stocks, Flat Track Karts(Stock and Stock Appearing Normal payout) and the Mini Wedges. General Admission will be $10 while Pit Passes will be $25. Check out the website at www.waynecountyspeedway.com for more information about the track.
