BEDFORD, Pa. – A long weekend of All Star Circuit of Champions action resulted in two finishes inside the top five for Cap Henry. After battling through rear end issues and a subsequent 20th-place showing at Attica (Ohio) Raceway Park on Friday night, Henry came away from Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, Ohio with a fifth-place outcome and a third at Bedford (Pa.) Fairgrounds Speedway on the final two evenings of the weekend.

The problems began early on at Attica; 40 cars signed in, and Henry qualified a lowly 39th with a 13.997-second lap. From the tenth and final starting spot in heat two, Henry completed two laps before retiring to the pit area with issues persisting. Ahead of the B-Main, the Coomer Motorsports team agreed on changing the rear end. From dead last on the grid, Henry rallied forward seven spots to finish 11th, but still necessitated the use of a provisional to start the 40-lap main event. Starting 26th, Henry did all of his moving early on. He had powered to 20th by lap nine, but his progress halted there, where he would eventually finish.

Hoping for redemption at Wayne County, Henry went out for qualifying and fared much better. Stopping the clock at 14.553 seconds put the Bellevue, Ohio native 10th overall. That set him up with a heat race starting position outside the front row. His ensuing second-place finish was good enough to move on to the dash. Starting it in fifth, Henry gave way to outside starter Rob Chaney, but regained the spot just ahead of the checkered.

Similarly, in the main event, Chaney would overtake Henry on the start; the long, tight 3/8-mile oval made passing very difficult, as it took ten laps for the Coomer Motorsports No. 21 to again lay claim to the fifth spot. He would power into fourth briefly around lap 20, but point leader Chad Kemenah was on the move and took the position on lap 22. Henry would come home in fifth.

To cap off the weekend, the All Stars made their first of two visits to Bedford Fairgrounds Speedway. Henry and 41 other entrants set up for action at the half-mile, which celebrates its 80th season in 2016. Henry posted a 17.586-second lap in qualifying, good for 20th on the chart. In his heat race, Henry started from the pole, but it was second-starting Robbie Stillwaggon of New Jersey taking the lead early. It wasn’t until the white flag emerged that Henry mounted a charge and made the move for the heat victory. Another dash appearance was in order; Henry started and finished second.

At the drop of the green in the 25-lap main event, Kemenah, who started third, wasted no time getting to the front. His capture of the top spot on lap one dropped polesitter Mark Smith and Henry to second and third, respectively. Henry worked his way past Smith on lap 12, but soon faced a challenge from Central PA point leader Greg Hodnett. Hodnett commandeered the spot on the 18th circuit, relegating Henry to third before the finish.

Henry would like to thank Aesthetic Finishers, Armor Coat, Cerakote, Best Bite Grill, Printworks, FK Rod Ends, Simpson Race Products, Wings Unlimited, Diversified Machine Inc, Kistler Racing Engines, Jon Coomer Financial Services, and Kinsler Fuel Injection, as well as his family, fans, and the Coomer Motorsports team for their continued support.

Henry is next scheduled to compete on April 23 at Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal, Pa. for the “Keith Kauffman Classic,” and on April 24 at Selinsgrove Speedway in Selinsgrove, Pa. for the “Ray Tilley Classic,” both with the All Star Circuit of Champions in the Coomer Motorsports No. 21 410ci winged sprint entry.
