Inside Line Promotions – NEWBERRYTOWN, Pa. (Aug. 23, 2017) – Trey Starks opened a tripleheader with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions last weekend by posting a top-10 result before he capped the weekend by earning the Hard Charger Award.

Starks and the Gobrecht Motorsports team kicked off the action on Friday at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa., where they set quick time during qualifying.

“The last couple of times we’ve been there we seem to have a good baseline for early in the night,” Starks said. “That was nice to be consistent and fast there. It was cool to pick up the Quick Time Award, especially with such a stout field there.”

Starks advanced from fourth to third place in a heat race, but he started last – fifth – in a dash. He finished in that position to line up on the outside of the fifth row for the main event.

“That dash draw didn’t help us,” he said. “We started 10th in the feature and got racing with a couple of cars. We were shuffled back a bit and had to work our way back up. It hurts not starting up front, but you have to race. We could have been a little better than we were. However, a top 10 is always good, especially at Williams Grove.”

Starks battled around 10th for the entire race before closing with a 10th-place result, which was his 17th top 10 of the season.

The team ventured to Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, Pa., on Saturday. Starks timed in seventh overall and second quickest in his group before he finished third in a heat race to miss the dash by only one position. That lined him up 11th for the A Main.

“It was similar to Williams Grove where we were a little tight and dropped a couple of spots early,” he said. “I made a couple of mistakes. I hit the cone on a restart so we were penalized two spots. I made those up and then I hit the wall and the car spun around so we had to go to the back. I tried to fight my way up, but we got put a lap down the lap before a caution came out. We picked off five or six spots on the green-white-checkered finish, but none of them counted because we were a lap down.”

Starks ended the night with an 18th-place finish.

The weekend concluded on Sunday at Susquehanna Speedway, where Starks qualified 14th overall and seventh in his group.

“That first group was really fast and were the last car out in the group,” he said. “It didn’t set us up very well.”

Starks placed seventh in the heat race, which relegated him to the B Main. After fading to fifth early, he rebounded to finish third and transfer into the back of the main event.

“I felt like we were rolling pretty good,” he said. “The track had a big curb up top and was really slick. I knew we’d have to be on it in the main. We made a few adjustments to race in bad air. We were able to march up through there. I think we really found something that we can use.”

Starks powered from 23rd to 14th, which earned the Hard Charger Award for passing the most cars.
