Inside Line Promotions – ORRVILLE, Ohio (Oct. 10, 2017) – Rob Chaney rallied from midpack to garner a top-five result for CH Motorsports Saturday night at Wayne County Speedway.

Chaney began his evening of competition with the Arctic Cat All Stars Circuit of Champions by qualifying second quickest in his group, placing him in the third starting position in a heat race.

“I felt like we cut a good lap in qualifying,” he said. “It was pretty tough to pass in the heat races. We just kind of got into third at the start, but couldn’t make any ground on the top two. So that kept up out of the dash.”

Chaney started 13th out of 26 cars in an eventful feature.

“There was a lot of stuff going on at the start of the race,” he said. “There were some problems up front. Somebody got into Christopher Bell and kind of bounced him up and he and I got into each other. I think that caused me to lose about four or five spots – maybe more. It was a terrible start for us. I had to pick my way back through all those guys. There was a lot of attrition, too, with a lot of guys crashing and dropping out.

“We were good enough to run up through there. We got a caution toward the end when I think I was running in seventh. I was able to get by a couple more guys at the end. I felt we had a solid car. You always feel like if you can start in the front you’ve got a chance to be up there contending for a win, but we didn’t. We started 13th and finished fifth, so we’ll take that as a solid night and move on.”

The fifth-place result marked the fifth top five of the season for CH Motorsports.

The tentative plan for this weekend is to compete with the All Stars on Saturday at Eldora Speedway near Rossburg, Ohio.
