Inside Line Promotions – ORRVILLE, Ohio (April 24, 2018) – Kevin Swindell Racing posted a top-five finish during the opening weekend of the season with Spencer Bayston behind the wheel and a few new sponsors on board.

“We want to welcome South Bay Partners, Tim Walker Real Estate and DKW Transport,” Swindell said. “We also want to welcome back all of our valued partners who have supported this team since the start. We’ve steadily improved year by year and a big part of that is thanks to the support our team has.”

Last weekend’s action began on Friday at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio, where Bayston set quick time overall to kick off the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions event. He then advanced from fourth to second place in a heat race before a third-place result in a dash lined the team up on the inside of the third row for the Core & Main Spring Nationals A Main.

“We came back with a hybrid of two of the versions of the cars we ran last year,” Swindell said. “The car we won with at Attica at the beginning of last year was a longer car. We like the shorter car that we raced at the end of the year. We put the motor from the longer car in the shorter car and it got us way too tight. Plus, you’re racing with guys that have ran eight or 10 times this year. We just have to get back in the swing of things and improve on what we had last year.”

Bayston battled the tight race car throughout the main event before closing the night with a 12th-place result.

The team worked hard to improve for Saturday’s All Star show at Wayne County Speedway and it showed right off the bat. Bayston established a new track record while setting quick time during qualifying. He then advanced a position to place third in a heat race and second in a dash, which started him on the inside of the second row for the main event.

“I felt like we had a really good package throughout the night,” he said. “Early in the main event I was trying to get comfortable with the rate of speed these winged cars race at and I just got eaten up for the first half of the race. I got back in my groove and we got up to fifth. It was all about shaking the rust off on my part and getting back in the flow.”

Bayston rallied in the closing portion of the race to garner a fifth-place finish.

“I think we were as good as anybody from the halfway point on,” Swindell said. “We made some gains overall.”

Sunday’s World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series race at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Ind., rained out.

The team is slated to return to action this Friday and Saturday at Mansfield Motor Speedway in Mansfield, Ohio, during the $100,000-to-win Sprint Car World Championship.
