Wilson Heading to Atomic Speedway This Weekend for All Star Tripleheader

Inside Line Promotions – PORT ROYAL, Pa. (Sept. 9, 2019) – Greg Wilson is excited to return to an Ohio bullring this weekend for a trio of Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions races.

Wilson and his Hercules Tires, DNC Hydraulics, Ohio Logistics and Gear Off Road sponsored team will invade Atomic Speedway in Chillicothe this Thursday through Saturday for the Dean Knittel Memorial.

“I’m looking forward to getting on a track I’m familiar with to make sure we just have a problem with one type of track,” he said. “We struggled last weekend. I don’t really know why other than we had a lot of the same issues we did at Knoxville.”

Last weekend began on Thursday with what appeared to be a promising night at Bedford Speedway in Bedford, Pa., where Wilson advanced from sixth to fourth place in a heat race and was contending for a top 10 in the main event.

“We were decent and battled in a position to run in the top 10,” he said. “I had a mechanical failure, which we normally don’t have. I was disappointed. It just wasn’t meant to be. It was something that happens maybe two or three times in your career. The positive is we were pretty good. Every time we hit the track we were better. Those are the nights you’re looking for.”

Wilson ventured to Port Royal Speedway on Friday for the first of two nights at the flat, half-mile oval during the famed Tuscarora 50 event.

“The track was awesome, but the feeling we had on Friday was the same as Saturday,” he said. “We couldn’t get our car to drive off very good. The way we tried to fix it was no good. It was just mediocre all weekend.

“On Friday we missed transferring into the main event by one position out of the heat and the B Main. On Saturday the driver just flat missed it in qualifying. I tried to run around the top and what I needed to do was cut the middle of turns three and four. We battled from there all night. We weren’t very good, either. It seems to be that half-mile flat track. When they start losing grip we’re normally pretty good, but we’re struggling right now. So we’re looking forward to heading to Atomic, where we’ve run pretty well throughout the years.”

Wilson enters this weekend ranked sixth in the All Star championship standings.
