Inside Line Promotions – POCOLA, Okla. (June 1, 2020) – Robbie Price highlighted a two-race weekend in the state of Oklahoma with a ninth-place finish on Friday at Creek County Speedway.

Price followed that up with a 16th-place run on Saturday at Tri-State Speedway to conclude the ASCS Sooner Region doubleheader.

“It wasn’t a bad weekend, but it wasn’t all that great either,” he said. “I struggled all weekend from a driver standpoint and it was definitely one of the most frustrating weekends of the year.”

Friday’s event at the bullring in Sapulpa began with Price starting from the pole position in a heat race. Unfortunately, he was spun out early and had to rally from the back to finish fourth. Price then lined up eighth in a qualifier. He passed three cars before blowing a tire and crossing the finish line on his rim to finish fifth.

As a result, Price had to run the B Main, which he won to earn the 15th starting spot in the feature. He dropped early after committing to the top side of the track. Once he moved down the track, Price started to make up ground on the leaders before momentum stalled out just inside the top 10 for a ninth-place finish.

“Creek County was just a tough night,” he said. “I felt like I hit everything but the pace truck. I went up top in the feature and I just stayed up there too long. Once we got to the bottom we made up some ground, but it was too little too late.”

Price traveled 141 miles east to Tri-State Speedway on Saturday. He started third in a heat race and finished fourth, which was good enough to lock himself into the feature in the 14th starting spot.

Price struggled to find a line where he felt comfortable on the dusty track. He ultimately fell backwards two spots to finish in the 16th position, good enough for his sixth top-20 outing of the season.

“We were decent early in the night, but I was just racing guys too long in the heats and not really moving forward,” he said. “In the feature we were not very good at all and I think that was mostly on me. I didn’t drive a smart race and ultimately I have to take the blame there.”

Price will be staying in Oklahoma this weekend, but it will be a bit of a change as he will make his first 410ci sprint car starts of the 2020 race season. Price will join the Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 for three nights of racing on Thursday at Lawton Speedway in Lawton; on Friday at Red Dirt Raceway in Meeker; and on Saturday at Outlaw Motor Speedway in Oktaha during the Cometic Gasket Thunder Through the Plains presented by Hercules Tires.

“Pretty much every show we’ve been to this season has had at least 40 cars and I don’t expect this to be any different,” he said. “It hasn’t been a great season by any means so maybe a change of scenery in the cars will do the trick in getting our season on track. I’m optimistic and excited for the challenge ahead of us and I’m really looking forward to it.”
